Re: D&D to remove inherently evil races

I disagree. Human are able to work together and thrive in hostile environments once we've exhausted every other choice. Real world histories are littered with the remains of nation states that couldn't get cooperation down. And we have cultures that got to staggering levels of power through the mon...

Re: D&D to remove inherently evil races

We saw the same with the Orcs. Zent-keep sent Grey orcs to the Tungin war and just left them there after the war, thinking they would destabilize the area. Instead, they became neighbors who looked out for the natives in the area. 4th ed put an end to that idea, which was too bad because since was ...

Re: D&D to remove inherently evil races

The infighting and internal strife was based on lolth's desires. These two factors are what made drow evil, rather then natural evil state. This is indeed canon, but it doesn't work either, as it leads to non-narrative--i.e. a bad situation in which everything pushes for a change, yet the author(s)...

Re: D&D to remove inherently evil races

I always took it the drow were mostly evil because they live in such a tough place and that required a level of pragmatism that excludes the good tag in a character's alignment(Papers please or This war of mine style). That's the explanation provided in some editions, yes, but it doesn't work. At a...

Luckily, the creator has solved the copyright strike issue, and the video is back.

Re: A new lore video since our lady's revival...

Aaaaand it has been taken down. I was half-expecting it, since the creator use a lot of people's art without even asking for permission. I hope he re-uploads it, with art that he's been given the permission to use. All of this is kinda ironic, since Eilistraee delights in supporting artists, so she ...

Re: A suiter

Well that's the thing. Every character in the game world passes through a filter that is the reader/gamer. And that's after these characters have been filtered by the staff at WOTC/Hasbro. Say Author X has an idea for a character Roberto Awesomepants and puts it into the next splat book. However so...

No problem. However, while it's always nice to have canon confirmation of something, remeber that it's you and your group to decide what's true in your game.

Re: Gods in the realms, changed on your games.

I'm afraid I don't have much to tell, because I found myself changing way too much stuff using FR, so I just ended up crafting my own world and using that instead. And deities aren't really 'divine' in my world; I don't have proper deities. From FR, I only kept Eilistraee, Araushnee, and Corellon. F...

Re: A suiter

I'm not sure where Selune was all over the place, I think I missed it. In any case, by that logic, we would need to exclude Mielikki, because RAS had her act massively out of character and condone genocide because of his personal bias, as he's letting his personal RW belief encroach more and more in...

I've already commented on this, and I also agree with Shir'le. I'm posting again because I remember Ed saying that, among the deities, Eilistraee enjoys the company of Selune and Mielikki. Take this as you will.

Re: when did non elves start getting invited into Eilistraees priestesshood?

According to Ed, Eilistraee's always had non-drow clerics, so yeah--some of those worshippers near Silverymoon could very well be clerics of her. And I mean, elves have been able to be her clerics ever since the times when she used to be the patroness of a whole nation. Currently, there's no restric...

Re: A new lore video since our lady's revival...

He did a good video indeed, but it's tiresome to see people going on and on about how Eilistraee's misandrist etc... True enough. Even originally when there were only female clergy that always seemed much more a misunderstanding n the side of the worshipers anyway, with them all coming from a matri...

Re: Drow in Baldur's Gate 3

Ahh, I see. But yes, 5e downplays alignment, especially compared to other editions. Loyalty is perfectly understandable for an Eilistraeans; not so sure for the law. Then again, you also have paladins of other deities who pretty much don't care about the law, like Corellon, so i guess it's a broad s...
