<t>I agree, the genre is taking a bad turn. I don't know if I agree that Warhammer is partially to blame, but I will agree that WoW and games like it have definitely taken their toll. <br/> <br/> It's not just that people no longer want to have hope, or to see good things happen. They, as a whole, d...

<t>Reminds me of a comic I saw in the Dragon magazine a number of years back.<br/> <br/> Character 1: "You're a bard? What type of instrument do you play?"<br/> Hot chick: "A gong."<br/> Character 1: "But monsters will hear you coming miles away!"<br/> Hot chick: "Yeah, but what other instrument pro...

<r>Anyways... back on subject... <E></E> <br/> <br/> I think running our own campaign using either the 3.5 or Pathfinder rules would be great. I want to keep Eilistraee alive and well, personally. <br/> <br/> I find the "older" rules provide a much better and involved roleplaying experience, ...

I also forgot the Argent Savant. The force (energy type, not the Jedi thing) specialist would be another for a more combat oriented mage, but as our friend here appears to be more interested in the esoteric aspects of magic, I would still go with the ones I highlighted in bold.

<t>Also, 4th Edition is meant to put everyone "one equal footing". Which means that every character has almost the exact same abilities as everyone else. The only real difference is what they're called, and how they're utilized. <br/> <br/> Some effects are slightly different, but all in all, all ch...

I forgot about the Master Specialist. That's another good one.

The frostmage, only works for Drow from the Silver Marches, in my opinion, and rarely for that, since Drow traditionally prefer things warm.

<r>Well, in the Star Wars Game, Eilistraee is a Force Spirit. She's the first of her kind that turned from the Dark Side, which was the tradition among her people. But that's my weird game. <E></E> I've included Mum-Ra the Everliving as a Sith Lord in one of my Star Wars games as well, becaus...

<t>I don't know if Knife Throwing is that useful as a skill. Unless it's backed up with a ton of feats, and has the proper prestige classes, and I don't think that's what Rocky's looking for right now. <br/> <br/> Knowledges are always useful, though. But, don't forget as a Bard you have Bardic Know...

<t>I'm going to guess that Mind Bender is kind of out of the running, too.<br/> <br/> Actually, I think here are a few of the best prestige classes for a Follower of the Dark Maiden, in my opinion:<br/> <br/> [b:226ifwdt]Arcane Devote[/b:226ifwdt] (Players Guide to Faerun)<br/> Arcane Hierophant (Ra...

<t>I don't know if Drizzit's ruined all good drow, but he certainly did his part to make it almost a joke to be a good drow. <br/> <br/> DM: "So, John, what's your character going to be?"<br/> John: "I'm going to play a good drow!"<br/> DM: "Really? <t>Well, in standard 3.5, you're starting with 4 0-level spells (2+Charisma modifier per day). They're not great, but they do have their uses. If you have access to the Spell Compendium, I'd flip through that, before making an decisions on spells.<br/> <br/> Also, the Bardic Music is pretty helpful,...

It looks like Wot-zi decided that if they couldn't beat them, to join them.

<t>It all goes into that new more Politically Correct view that they have with the races for the new edition. Now dwarves and elves are more chummy, half-elves are considered oki-day, and there's never been any racial tension. It's not cool to hate another race, no matter the length of the beard, th...
