Re: Happy Birthday, Irennan
Thank you, people
@Leema: Incidentally, the TTRPG session I ran with my group on my birthday, saw Eilistraee being closely involved after a lot of time of the group dealing with a different matter. So, you could indeed say that she was there in my birthday, heh.

Re: Vandria Gilmadrith
She's Lolth's and Corellon's daughter in Greyhawk. She had originally nothing to do with the FR canon.

Re: How do you imagine Eilistraee's voice?
I like the part about speaking in emotions, but I think that the deity would still produce sounds (and so have a voice that resembles that of whatever race/gender they indentify with), especially deities of song like Eilistraee. Regarding the echo in the voice, however, I think that would depend on ...

Re: Shining Sword of Magic
I had missed this post when you made it. Scribd won't let me make a trial account (because it rejects my card), so I couldn't download the sword writeup, but the post was an entertaining read regardless. Looks like Joe enjoyed making his players feel powerful, though maybe a bit too powerful, heh. ...

Re: D&D to remove inherently evil races
I think we're splitting hairs on this point, with your refinement of your position above we're close enough for jazz. I didn't refine my position. The thing about forming groups and condemning others (so, Xenophobia) was already in my first comment. Here's the first half of it: "Humans have th...

Re: D&D to remove inherently evil races
So, Re: Relenless. It tried to change the status quo of the FR re: the drow, which is DIRELY needed (totally agree on that), but it came off as a goofy attempt to me (can't say more without spoilering, so I'll discuss this in the spoilery part of the comment). MASSIVE SPOILERS BELOW . . . . . . Ther...

Re: D&D to remove inherently evil races
I really doubt RAS agrees with me; he's responsbile for the bulk of the crappy worldbuilding behind the drow. Yes, Gygax created them, but RAS had the opportunity to make them an oppressive yet workable and nuanced society, with a lot of different movements, interal conflicts, and push for change (a...

How do you imagine Eilistraee's voice?
Question as per title. This question occured to me because I randomly came across to a Youtuber whose voice clicked with how I imagined Eilistraee's. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-BAtGBZAYQ Describing a voice in concrete terms that can make your brain actually imagine it, is really difficult. Sw...

Re: D&D to remove inherently evil races
I disagree. Human are able to work together and thrive in hostile environments once we've exhausted every other choice. Real world histories are littered with the remains of nation states that couldn't get cooperation down. And we have cultures that got to staggering levels of power through the mon...

Re: D&D to remove inherently evil races
We saw the same with the Orcs. Zent-keep sent Grey orcs to the Tungin war and just left them there after the war, thinking they would destabilize the area. Instead, they became neighbors who looked out for the natives in the area. 4th ed put an end to that idea, which was too bad because since was ...

Re: D&D to remove inherently evil races
The infighting and internal strife was based on lolth's desires. These two factors are what made drow evil, rather then natural evil state. This is indeed canon, but it doesn't work either, as it leads to non-narrative--i.e. a bad situation in which everything pushes for a change, yet the author(s)...

Re: D&D to remove inherently evil races
I always took it the drow were mostly evil because they live in such a tough place and that required a level of pragmatism that excludes the good tag in a character's alignment(Papers please or This war of mine style). That's the explanation provided in some editions, yes, but it doesn't work. At a...
