Yeah, WotC is known for pissing people off with their April Fool's Jokes. A lot of people take them serious. I remember hearing about one. they showed a D&D mini's base with nothing on it and said it was an Invisible Stalker. People got upset, I LMAO.

This is about as funny as a Halfing Barbarian enraged.

It was mentioned in a book, I won't name, trying to sever the Drow connection to [i:1xo38s3v]Faerzress[/i:1xo38s3v]. Instead of 2 seperate races, the Drow, all the Drow, would revert to a pre-Fourth Crownwars Dark Elf, or Ilythiiri Dark Elf.
