He watched the dragon's attack on the draegloth, and grinned wickedly. "Tal, I do belive it's time," he muttered to the coin, and readied to take out the group of fighters he had slipped behind at the camp's edge. Then the dragon brought the house down.

He looked up in time to see the first chunks of rock fall, and gaped. "Maiden's grace, that's ONE way to do it!" he said with awe, and quickly spun to dash away from the falling pieces of the ceiling. Well used to earth tremors and cave-ins from his former volcanic island home, he has only a few awkward moments of dodging falling rocks as he moves toward the safer region beyond the camp.

"She's NOT going to like that!" he says with a grin, and suddenly realizes that all the drow in the camp still have their feet stuck to the floor. Seeing an opportunity, he grabs the nearest one from behind, konking him on the back of the head to knock him out, and yanks him out of the threatened area, dragging him to a safer spot. "You'll thank me for this later," he says to the unconscious fighter, and quickly moves to grab another, though this one struggles a bit- ineffectively, with his feet rooted to the ground- before he manages to get him subdued and drags him beside the first. When the dust settles, he decides it is too late for most of them, though the priestess has somehow survived through her magic. Fortunately, her clothes and gear are all now buried under a blanket of rubble. He quickly ties up the two he "captured" and, turns his attention back to the priestess.

Dashing nimbly over the debris, the bard moves in close to aid in taking her down, as she is one of the few left standing after the dragon's assault. "You should have taken one of us up on that offer, milady," he says, now fully visible. "You'd likely still have lost, but at least you would still have had your dignity!!" He chuckles, grinning at her like a cat.
By the Dark Maiden''s grace do we meet. May she guide and protect us.

Neriah propped herself up against the aasimar and put a reassuring hand on his shoulder; she was not fully understanding what her lover so worked up about; but she had a pretty good guess as to the situation.

It was the arrival of Maryne and T'risstree that threw her off; at first she thought they had been sent to ambush Veraka and Aurora. But as she looked them both over, and judging from Veraka's lack of a reaction to their presence, she guessed that they were allies of sort.

One of the drow's faces was familiar to Neriah; then she remembered on one of her little adventures with Veraka one such drow female named Kathryn. This female reminded the fey'ri of her.

"I suppose there will be a time for introductions later ... I hope."[/color:9k12o9xt]

Neriah nods in agreement; "yes, of that, I'm sure of."

The aasimar was staring intently at the high priestess when he heard her mention of a lone warrior that approached them; he quickly realized that she was referring to HIM.
Veraka had been the reason that Zhay was captured and injured in the way he was.

This new information caused something inside him to snap; his rage skyrocketed, his wrath folded over itself as the berserker awakened within him again.; but something about this rage was different; the aasimar didn't let loose a howl of super-charged wrath like he usually did. No, the berserker had acquired a new face, a new power to itself, and it drove deep into the warriors heart. A dark silence crept about the aasimar, an unearthly calm that reminded those around him of an assassin.

His paladin aura vanished, his eyes took on a reddish-black hue, their normal radiant silver luster vanished, completely gone. Not only did Veraka lose his aura that was always present around him, but he took on a new one; one that was not silver hued that indicated a good alignment; no, this one was as black as a starless night's sky; rage, hate, sorrow, envy, malice, terror, any and all negative emotions that could be named, filled the air around him, their presence so thick the air felt heavier. The berserker was now not just a raging, roaring beast, one of untamed, near unstoppable strength, it was focused, like the sharpest spear-tip, focused and bent to Veraka's will.

It had given him the power he craved, and he had shaped it like it wanted, given it the form and purpose that it craved and desired; the berserker had effectively taken both physical and psychological control of the aasimar, because he had let it, he had [b:9k12o9xt]wanted[/b:9k12o9xt] it.

Neriah felt something come over her lover, and within a split second she was horrified; through her own fiendish heritage, she could feel the evil leeching off of him like a thick fog that hangs over the bay of a low laying swamp.
"Veraka, DON'T!!!" she screamed; but it was too late.

Veraka opened his mouth and an unearthly, demonic sounding roar echoed out of his throat and into the cavern, sending shivers up the fey'ri's spine. With his newly formed, stone cold rage fueling him, the aasimar surged forward, Marala Vharc coming out of its sheath on his back and his shield coming to his side.

Right then, however, Kalkyril decided to take things into her own hands.

-------------

Zhay, through the blood that stained his eyes, saw what unfolded before his eyes. Kalkyril, or at least the Deep Dragon that he thought was Kaikyril, launched itself at the draeglolth holding him.

He was even more astounded when he was grabbed by the Deep and watched the draeglolth that had once had hold of him get burned alive by the dragons acid breath.

"If you want to live, hold on tight." And then keeping her voice low enough for just Zhay to hear, "My Weapons Master."[/color:9k12o9xt]

"Kalkyril?" he asked slightly, a little surprised that she'd come for him. His wounds, however, were grievous, to say the least, and he slipped in and out of consciousness from time to time due to the huge amount of blood that he'd lost to the draeglolth's demonic claws.

However, when a-yet-unfamiliar-roar echoed throughout the cavern, followed by Veraka's name being shouted, he opened his eyes to see his aasimar mentor hurtling towards the high priestess, completely oblivious to the now collapsing ceiling that Kalkyril had triggered.
"Noo!" he cried out, but to no avail.

--------------

Veraka was about 10 meters from the high priestess when the first piece of ceiling broke free.
The charging aasimar wasn't aware of the stone-turned-to-clay ceiling that was collapsing on top of him and the entire camp until the first stalactite came crashing down less than ten feet away from him.

Tensing his muscles, he slid to halt, and started to double back on his steps. Running to at his maximum speed, Veraka dodged in and out of the falling debris, rolling to the side as one very large chunk of clay came down right where he used to be.

Neriah looked on with both hope and horror as her aasimar lover halted his charge and started racing back toward her, weaving in and around falling debris. Several times she screamed for him to move out of the way, but all of those times, before the words left her mouth, he was already out of the way of the danger.
It was like this new berserker afforded him some sort of psychic prediction, or precognition ability.

He raced toward the fey'ri at blitzkrieg speeds, maneuvering out of several near death catastrophes. The berserker guided the aasimar, fueling his strength and stamina with its rage, and heightening his already sharp reflexes. He was nearly at Neraih's position, her eyes pleading him to get out of there.

Veraka leaped toward her, but his body didn't make it as a chunk of clay about three quarters his size and near triple his weight came crashing down on top of him. Blackness followed immediately.

The fey'ri looked on at her aasimar with hope; then a thunderous crash echoed from in front of her, accompanied by a huge dust cloud. Neriah raised her arms to shield her eyes from the debris.
"Veraka!!!"[/size:9k12o9xt] she screamed out in despair, her voice carrying into the thunderous clamor of the falling ceiling.

When she lowered her arms, her gaze fell to a fallen Veraka, who was half buried under a chunk of clay and a little other rubble; only his shoulders, arms, and head were not buried. Neriah ran over to him, despite the fact that there might have been other danger in the area, and knelt down to her fallen aasimar; he was under at least 2 tons of debris. She felt hot tears start to trickle down her cheeks, until she thought something was odd.
Veraka had leaped/dove toward her; "he should have made that," she said to herself.

Looking around the pile that pinned Veraka; she saw a thin, but unmistakable lining of a whip that led into the pile that now had Veraka under it. She seethed in anger; he had been tripped up and held down as the ceiling had come down on top of him.

{{OOC: Edit done: missed Aylstra's post. :)}}
At Lothir's intrusion, the priestess turned around to suddenly find herself devoid of clothes. Pulling her whip of fangs free from the pile, she waved her hand, a light blue outlining everyone clearly. "You think to fool me with your tricks? I-"

Her words were lost within the roar of the dragon, and the priestess suddenly found herself in great danger as large slabs of rock began to fall from the ceiling. Realising that it was a setup, the priestess cowered beneath a small pocket created by the rocks, her snakes writhing angrily.

"AIM FOR HER WINGS! SHE WILL GO DOWN FAST ENOUGH." The priestess screamed at the top of her lungs. The crossbowmen were probably all dead from the rocks, but the two wizards she had sent away should have been free.

---

A sheet of lightning hurtled toward the dragon followed by another as the two wizards attempted to take the dragon down. Seeing this, the fighter lead motioned forwards, and the last few drow fighters dodged around falling rock, leaving their own behind in a mad run. Their objective was no longer to defeat the dragon; they were headed for the exit.

---

Both of her clerics were running towards her, rolling underneath swiftly falling pieces of rock. The first one disappeared under a fall of rock and blood, and the second one met her fate in much the same way. All the priestess had now were the two draegloths that were picking up the large pieces of stone and hurling them at the dragon. [/color:xxtsvs1s]

You should have taken one of us up on that offer, milady," he says, now fully visible. "You'd likely still have lost, but at least you would still have had your dignity!!" He chuckles, grinning at her like a cat. [/color:xxtsvs1s]

"Dignity?" the priestess laughs, not seeming to mind her lack of clothes at all, "You think you have won, but you will see, when -" the priestess dodges suddenly, as a rock falls just between the bard and her, harming neither, but putting enough between them that she can return to focusing on her target.[/color:xxtsvs1s]

Veraka leaped toward Neriah, but his body didn't make it as a chunk of clay about three quarters his size and near triple his weight came crashing down on top of him.[/color:xxtsvs1s]

Turning back, the priestess grinned at the sight she saw, eyes glowing as her prey ran in. With a snarl, she threw her hand out, the snakes curling around Veraka's feet the bring him down. Walking over to him, she raised her whip high and brought it down hard, seconds before both of them were buried under clay, the priestess' body smashed before the snakes could do any real damage, their enchantment fading as their owner died.[/color:xxtsvs1s]

---

"RUN MARYNE! RUN!" she screamed dropping all stealth and sprinting for an exit.[/color:xxtsvs1s]

"T'risstree!" Maryne sprinted after the other drow as the floor began to shake, throwing her off her feet. T'risstree vanished right in front of her outstretched arm behind a cascade of rocks. "VITH!" Maryne's hands shook as she muttered her prepared spell, casting [b:xxtsvs1s]ethereal jaunt[/b:xxtsvs1s] on herself, just as a slab of rock crashed down on where she was standing. She phased through the rock wall, coming out on the other side to T'risstree. Ending the spell, she dropped onto the floor beside her, grabbing T'risstree's shoulders and directing her away from the cave. "The ground is still shaking! We have to leave for the city! We'll meet up with the others there; there's nothing we can do now!"

The truth of her words were punctuated by a sharp crack when the ceiling split a little as the rock wall in front of them groaned, more weight being added to it on the other side. A sizeable rock fell from its place only to be replaced by another one, tumbling down past the drow women.

[OOC: Hello LiNeee & welcome. I'm glad you've joined us. You may want to edit your post as there are some small problems with it. Firstly, all the action so far has taken place underground, not on the surface. If I read your post correctly, you are in a wooded clearing? If your character is intending to blend in with to concurrent role play, you will have to re-adjust where your character is.

At the moment, the current players are in a large cavern in the Underdark, not far from the Drow city of Lith My'athar. Pheurazath/Kalkyryn [the Deep Dragon] has made her way up onto the ceiling of the cavern and transmuted Rock to Mud, causing a massive cave in on the evil Drow below who were holding Zhay prisoner. Lothir the Bard was providing a distraction, while Talwyn, Grofsnuttle, Maryne, T'risstree, Veraka and Neriah were waiting along the edges of the cavern until the roof caved in. Veraka is partly buried in the rubble, Maryne and T'risstree are trapped on the other side of the cavern and have to find another way out of there.

I hope this clarifies the situation and that you can adjust your first post to blend in with the events :) Please don't hesitate to ask questions of us in the Out of Character Forum[/size:2nr5lp6o][/url:2nr5lp6o] 8)

[quote:2wq05mh9]A sheet of lightning hurtled toward the dragon followed by another as the two wizards attempted to take the dragon down. [/quote:2wq05mh9]

Having little time to concern herself with dodging the lightning, Pheurazath, for Zhay's sake, bears the brunt of the spell, and in fact turns the pain of it to her advantage, during her bite into the Draegloth, the pain making her clamp down all the harder. By then however, she had already abandoned flight, her wings well out of use for the time being. Further spells, after her retreat around the opposite side of the natural pillar, while ascending toward the top, found only stone to ineffectively blast against, line-of-sight obscured.

[quote:2wq05mh9]However, when a-yet-unfamiliar-roar echoed throughout the cavern, followed by Veraka's name being shouted, he opened his eyes to see his aasimar mentor hurtling towards the high priestess, completely oblivious to the now collapsing ceiling that Kalkyril had triggered.
"Noo!" he cried out, but to no avail.[/quote:2wq05mh9]

At the moment of this cry, and the cry of an unfamiliar voice, Pheurazath's attention snapped downward too, to the horror of watching Veraka dive in, and then start back out of the collapse. Paralyzed by the horror and indecision of what to do, how to protect both Zhay AND Veraka, she could only watch and pray, begging Io, and much to her surprise then, every goodly Dragon God, great and minor, even Bahamut whom seldom crossed her mind, for the Aasimar's safety. What came next, drew open her eyes wider yet...

[quote:2wq05mh9]Turning back, the priestess grinned at the sight she saw, eyes glowing as her prey ran in. With a snarl, she threw her hand out, the snakes curling around Veraka's feet the bring him down. Walking over to him, she raised her whip high and brought it down hard, seconds before both of them were buried under clay, the priestess' body smashed before the snakes could do any real damage, their enchantment fading as their owner died.[/quote:2wq05mh9]

[quote:2wq05mh9]The fey'ri looked on at her aasimar with hope; then a thunderous crash echoed from in front of her, accompanied by a huge dust cloud. Neriah raised her arms to shield her eyes from the debris.
"Veraka!!!" she screamed out in despair, her voice carrying into the thunderous clamor of the falling ceiling.[/quote:2wq05mh9]

In these moments, how wide the ever slender opening of Pheurazath's eyelids spread, first came denial, wishing to disbelieve all that had just unfolded in a matter of mere seconds, then a rage, seething, borderline maniacal burned through her, calculating options, looking for a way to put this right, she found T'risstree and Maryne fast departing the cavern, and decided then and there. Executing a backward leap from the column, Pheurazath used her [b:2wq05mh9]other[/b:2wq05mh9] racial shape change, taking serpentine form, and coiling herself upon Zhay, braced herself for a harsh landing, using her body to cushion him, and come to a rolling-sliding position in the path of the clerics, halting herself then, with wings, now bruised, partly torn, and one partially burnt, presenting Zhay, carefully released from the coils, bidding them, "Get him out of here."

She was not about to stay long, not about to give anyone explanations, long enough to beg questions, not anymore chance than had been afforded to deduce the connection. No sooner than Zhay is given over to the more than capable hands that might heal him of two priestesses, than she is off again, slithering first, and coming up to a run reverting to dragon shape on the move, up beside Neriah, and keeping her voice low, "Get Aurora out of here, Io as my witness he will live yet, or I will share his grave, now GO!"

As for Charir, sensing the rage, and intentions of his Mistress, he'd made for higher altitudes early on, and when the dust had settled, seeing these new events, received and promptly carried out new orders, flitting to and alighting on Lothir's shoulder, using his racial telepathy to convey an image of him leaving the camp's vicinity swiftly, rather than attempt conveying projected words to that effect.

While Charir handled his new task, Pheurazath took up the same spell that had brought the roof down again, this time focusing the center of it upon the clay covering Veraka, though it would surely spread as wide as the first casting, turning much of the floor around them to clay, yet at a depth too minor to make a difference to footing or the condition of the camp. However, for the clay that had already fallen, it just as suddenly becomes a thick, sticking mud, from which Veraka is pulled up from, and now Pheurazath has a new passenger she prays will survive. Also musing how much praying she is doing this day, and wondering if she might have been better served to have been a cleric.

Just as well, drawing on her last two spells of that corresponding spell level for the day, places [b:2wq05mh9]Invisibility[/b:2wq05mh9] on Veraka first, and then herself. Now is time to retreat from this place, and hope Lothir followed her instructions, as she moves to locate T'risstree and Maryne again, to bring the fallen Aasimar to them as well.

No plan laid yet for whether she would stay to help, or leave, perhaps toward the city to devise a clever cover-story for her other identity, or perhaps back to the cavern, if enough remained standing, to have a light snack, just to make up for all the protein her body would need to heal and recover lost blood. For now, all that matters for her, is the survival of all. However, one plan that was easy to decide, once Veraka is healed and well again, he along with Lothir were due to be severely scolded for their impatience and recklessness. In retrospect, these two weaknesses ruined her negotiations, as well any chance of cleanly caving in the whole cavern without any casualties, other than Lolthites.

Of course she couldn't have known if her ruse would have worked at all, but now she'd never know, and worried over helping with the injured, or retreating to the city in hopes of avoiding, having to figure out how to maintain her public facade. If she must confide truth in these companions, would they respect her wishes to keep her secret from public perceptions? Would they attempt to exploit the secret, and force her into a position likely to drive her into hiring an assassin? Then of course another question troubled her mind, 'Why in the Nine Hells, did she care about these surfacers and Drow, so much that the matter troubled her so?'

The bard looks around after the dust has settled, and seeing the dragon attempting to pull Veraka out of the mass of rubble, he decides there is noting else for him, especially with the priestess dead. Which suddenly reminds him of the two males tied up at the cavern's edge.

When the tiny pseudodragon lands on his shoulder to deliver the message, he cocks his head to try to decipher the image, then nods. "Right, we really should get out of here. But I've got something that needs doing first."

He whistles to Aurora, motioning the big winter wolf over when she turns to him. she comes padding over, and he looks down at her, somehow feeling strange for talking to a huge wolf. "You're Veraka's companion, right? I need your help to get these two out of here. We need some prisoners to interrogate to find out who these Lolthites were. This camp didn't just sprout out of nowhere- some House sent them, and we need to know whom, and where they came from. Besides, I figure that since I just saved their lives, they might even be grateful enough to convert. With a little persuasion, of course. In any case, they at least deserve the chance to decide. If they don't prove helpful, well, maybe our big scaly friend over there can eat them." He says, grinning.

He loads the two unconscious males onto the wolf's back, and swiftly makes his way across the field of debris, back to the entrance they came from, hoping the winter wolf will follow with the prisoners. Then he jogs back to Talwyn and the others.

[quote:9cefite8]up beside Neriah, and keeping her voice low, "Get Aurora out of here, Io as my witness he will live yet, or I will share his grave, now GO!"[/quote:9cefite8]

Neriah looked to the serpent-turned-dragon, and nodded; she narrowed her eyes at the dragon slightly, and said, "If he doesn't live, I believe that many more will share his grave, and many of them deserving of it, I think."

The fey'ri then looked a bit surprised for a split second; she was amazed at how much she had come to care for the aasimar, since they'd first met. Shaking the thoughts from her head, she Shadow Jumped away from Aurora.

Aurora was laying near Veraka when she heard a sharp whistle and saw Lothir beckoning her over.

After the roaring rumbling of crashing falling rocks had calmed down, T'risstree and Maryne looked back at the rubble filled chamber with shock and a deegree of horror.

The two drow women had managed to get themselves out of the falling death that was unleashed but now found themselves unable to cross back across the blocked cavern. The only way out was behind them, a small tunnel leading further into the Underdark.

T'risstree gazed up at the wall of mud and rock that blocked their way back with annoyance and resignation.

"Maryne, I hope you are familiar with the tunnels and passageways around these parts as we will have to find another way back. There is no way in hells we will ever be able to dig our way through all that," she said with a nod in the direction of the blocked passage.

Maryne closed her eyes, trying to recall the complex network of twisting tunnels and passageways that made up the network of travel to and from Lith My'athar.

"I think if we walk out down this way, we will probably come to another smaller chamber. The problem is T'riss, is that I'm not from this area. I've been living here for a few years but you know as well as I that it takes time to learn all the hidden and secret ways that surround an Underdark city. The chamber has 3 exits but I don't know if any will lead us back to a route that will take us back to the city. We will have to pray that the goddess will show us the way home safe," replied Maryne as she tried despartely to recall any memory of routes to and from the city.

"You are right sister, we might as well get moving. I don't think that Talwyn was caught under the rock fall but I did see Veraka get squashed. We will pray that a miracle has prevented him being killed," she sighed. Maryne nodded, understanding T'risstrees unspoken concern for her lover and his friends.

Taking stock of their supplies, weapons, armor and spells, the two drow prietesses quietly moved down the pitch black passageway, the soft glow of Faerie Fire being their only light source.

Nothing impeded their progress and they walked for about a mile before coming up to the chamber that Maryne had described. It was empty and had the 3 exits she had mentioned.

"Well sister, whats it to be? One two or three?" grinned T'ristree at Maryne.

Maryne smiled and rolled her eyes at T'risstre's bad rhyme.

"Sister, please don't ever stop being a servant to our goddess and take up punning, it is not you," replied Maryne.

As he reaches the paladin and the gnome, he takes a moment to make sure the two unconscious drow warriors are tied securely on Aurora's back, then looks around the cavern. "Where did T'riss and her friend go? Are they alright? And where's Veraka?"

Zhay stirred as he began to rise from unconsciousness. He rose up, rubbing his head with a hand.
"Where in the Nine Hells am I now?" he asked mostly to himself, not sure if anyone was around him or not. The last thing he recalled was plummeting to the ground on Kalkyril's back. Reaching back behind himself, the muscular drow warrior found his greatsword that he wouldn't fight without.

He looked about, finding himself alone in a portion of the cavern that looked collapsed in, at least half of it did. Zhay wasn't sure where he was, but he got the feeling that he was being watched.

((OOC: I suppose I'll place Zhay near Zarae, since she's trying to come in on the RP, but only if it's alright with her and Peu))

((If that's what Zarae was meaning to do, then absolutely, if not, I'll see what can be done.))

No sign from Veraka that he was conscious enough to hold on as he is shifted onto Pheurazath's back, and though it pains her tattered and burned wings to move them, makes an effort to hold him steady as she retreats from the mostly collapsed cavern, pausing only near rocks that have already settled and become relatively stable, to devour the remains of a couple half-crushed Drow, or at least what she could get from the slight bodies. Then she is off again, moving out into stable tunnels, and there pausing to settle Veraka on the floor, and first work some minor healing spells, just to stop the bleeding from her wings, afterward expending all her remaining spells per day on healing him. (Or well intending to unless he recovers with less.)

Supposing he comes conscious again after this steady stream of healing, she'll not yet resume her drow form, and so the fisrt thing he's to see is that draconic face glaring at him, half-concerned, anf half- accusing.

Slowly, vision began to return to the aasimar's eyes as he strains to move from his awkward position. Beneath his armor he felt the cold, hard unforgiving floor of rock. Finally, Veraka opened his eyes, his silver orbs focusing to take in the darkness, that surrounded him, and the draconic face that was staring at him.

Grabbing his side, which now aches from the healed internal damage done both by the cave in of clay, and the raging nature of the Berserker, Veraka slowly wills himself up off the floor, muttering "and I don't suppose I have you to thank for my current set of bruises on my back, do I?"

His voice is groggy, but understandable as he speaks.
